I saw that AE was off and running, I didnt get in there. I would love to help with the houdini version though.

We have a very reduced beta team for the first weeks to fix the more common bugs. In the next weeks perhaps we could add few more beta testers, let's see how the development is going

Also usually the Octane plugins are launched in open beta at reduced price. I want to reach this phase as soon as possible, because Houdini is a very complex software, with a lot of workflows and features, and the only way to get a rock solid, production ready plugin is to have a lot of beta testers in the final phases of the development.

Not yet, but I want to release it as soon as possible. The plugin is near feature completed for a first release, but we need to test it a bit more and write some basic docs

does Houdini Indie also supports Render Plugins like Octane?

Nope, sorry. Currently Indie doesn't support external render engines.
