I was expecting something major, and at the same time basic, like displacement maps to be at least in the 1.x license!
I guess 2.x will be sold reperatly.

Will there be student licenses/prices this time?

The response I got from Otoy when I asked them directly about the upgrade was "sorry, we haven't nailed down the pricing yet, so we can't provide any information" - that was not a response I appreciated.

If it's €99 for standalone + a first-party plugin, I'm very ok with that - even if I did just buy Octane new a month ago :(

Somebody in another forum asked this question.

I would like to see someone do a speed test, not on render speed alone, but on general workflow:
Most movie scenes have 20Gb or more textures, this is going to quadruple for 4K rendering, upload this to the cloud, render, correct, iterate, etc...

it's matter of pipeline. You gonna correct all 20GB textures at once or one by one? you can upload only modified textures.

I think he meant that a typical single scene, with mesh, geoometry cache, textures, etc, can be as big as 20gig and with 4k it will be bigger. How will octane handle that especially regarding a cloud based octane.

Are you using Lightwave? That sounds like the response Juan gave. He is a 3rd party developer and as such there will be an additional charge (which he hasn't nailed down yet).
