Hi all,

We're very happy to inform you that the OctaneRender for Modo integrated plug-in, developed by face_off (Paul Kinnane) is ready for testing in a closed beta and will be released in a few weeks as an ongoing beta product. We'd like to set up a small group of 4 beta testers to help us test the new plugin product before we release it.

Beta testing candidates should have extensive experience with Modo, as well as being experienced OctaneRender users. These people will also need to be established forum users from our community and will have to sign a non-disclosure agreement prior to becoming part of the beta group.

Please see the OctaneRender for Modo preview thread for more details on the progress of the Modo plugin which includes a video and news on the progress of the plugin.

If you think you have what it takes, and would like to participate, please reply to this thread and tell us a bit about yourself and your experience with Modo and OctaneRender.

We will pick the 5 participants once we have enough applicants. In return for your help in testing the new product, you will receive a free copy/license of it, which you can keep when the beta testing period is over.

Cheers,

the OTOY NZ team

Hi there,

I'm a Modo User since version 401 and doing mostly technical visualization stuff. You can see a little part of my past work here:

http://www.mentalarts.com

Unfortunately I can't post newer stuff because of patent pending. Last job I did was an animation series of a new Computer Tomograph made by Siemens. I love Modo for its interface, speed and the render quality. But for my last job fast was'nt fast enough. I had to render my animations with Irradiance caching because of the schedule and ran into a lot of shading issues. Mote Carlo was not an option... 8-) For my next projects I need a faster render solution with more accuracy than IR is delivering. I rarely used my Octane licence before (brought it in early beta stadium). But three weeks ago I updated Octane to the newest version, did some tests and was impressed by speed and quality. I decided to integrate Octane in my projects so the announcement for the plugin came at the proper time.

You can't call me a experienced Octane user. But this can be a benefit, because most of the Modo Users will facing the same situation, never or rarely used Octane before. I can give you an objective evaluation how the integration of the plugin will feel to a Modo user. At the moment I'm testing the plugin for DAZ studio and I'm very impressed. Feels like a native part of DAZ! If the integration of the modo plugin is similar (the video looks promising)this will fit like a glove. I would love to betatest the plugin...ready to go... :D

Hi there. I've got extensive software testing experience, including Luxology software, and I am an avid user of Octane since the first release. I've got a 780ti and 460gtx and am running windows 8, 7 and Ubuntu.

I primarily use Octane for previs, but Modo I use for visual design and presentations - including animations for corporate events. What stops me from using Octane's speed is the difficulty in creating animations in very tight due dates (1-2 days) since I can do it inside Modo.

here is my last test render of a Dota 2 model.

Hi, I'm still a bit new to Octane but I would really like to give it the good old college try and what not.

Something I made for 3D printing (and was 3D printed, turned out pretty cool)
Image

School Project, used a fractal program in order to create that funky mesh thing in the jar:

And this is something I've been modelling in Modo, but can't seem to render in the Octane Standalone without massive trouble. So I used the Modo Internal. However this is a school project as well and I would really wish to continue working on it using Octane. It's still a work in progress, it needs materials and textures on it as well as some headlights modeled for it still.

This is an older model that I rendered in Octane but the time it takes to get loaded into Octane is much too long for it to be a very useful thing.

That's all I have at the moment but I will be doing a lot more vehicle designs for my project and would really like to use modo and octane together! Thank you for your time!

Regards,
Samuel

Can you tell to us if the selection of beta testers was done? I'm going on vacation and want to know if I buy one titan to do a sli with my 680 and do the tests with my days or I go to the beach !

Thanks
