Hi everyone,

OTOY is venturing in a challenging and rapidly moving field, daring to boldly go where no man has gone before. Such a pioneering role calls for the expert advice of veterans in the industry and this is why we have assembled an advisory board which we are proud to announce and present to you today.

OTOY's advisory board currently consists of six members:

  • Dr. Eric Schmidt, Executive Chairman, Google Inc.
  • Samuel J. Palmisano, Chairman, President and Chief Executive Officer, IBM Corporation (2003-2011)
  • Ari Emanuel, Co-Founder and Co-Chief Executive Officer, William Morris Endeavor
  • Brendan Eich, Chief Technology Officer and SVP, Mozilla
  • Dr. Irving Wladawsky-Berger, Vice President Emeritus and Consultant, IBM Corporation
  • George Gilder, Founder and Partner, Gilder Technology Fund

Yeah OK but do any of these VIP resumè fillers do rendering? Do they matter? Who cares what they utter if they can't/don't cook pixels over a hot gpu?
All this free advice you already get from the community for Octane pioneering and don't want to know about.
Otoy guys decide to stop talking and listening. Ungrateful ignorant and lowly customers get in the way with requests and opinions. Always this +1 pestulance on the forum to get in the way of seriously big picture works.
Otoy has dreams of IT greatness not simple render engines. Otoy this fast moving company but somewhere else and daring to boldly go everywhere but here.
Hmmmm....

I said many months ago that Otoy is the new Pixar.
The problem is that behind Otoy there isn't Steve Jobs and his money.
I don't understand why Weta is not interested in Otoy.
I remember that Mud box was developed in Weta then was purchased by Autodesk.
People that work with renders and professional pipelines can understand wha is necessary in Otoy.

I think this is a necessary step, for otoy, to reach the highest top of the mountain to ensure getting the best point of view on the tech world. If we want an affordable cloud render system we have to encourage otoy to establish the best partnerships ever hoped. I think developing octane standalone was fairly easy, and it was done also by refractive software former team, but octane cloud rendering can't be done without the right staff, the right relationships, the right pov.

I don't get it, why are we given this information at all? In what way should it interest us? A solid release date for 1.5 would have been much more appreciated. Seriously, throw us a "real" bone! We have been ignored long enough.

Dear all, first of all best congrats for this relevant milestone.

I think that counting on a first-class advice board is a great move proving that you're open to hear about business insights that usually are not 100% related with GPU and travelling rays, but different (somebody might say much more complex) and secondly that you're modest enough to see your limit and go beyond them by asking advises.

I'm sure that the whole OTOY will benefit of this great board not limiting its influences on Octane. It will come time when "Business People" will have a different vision than user base but this is the way it must be and only by finding the narrow street trying to match both make a company an extraordinary company.

All the best and good luck OTOY!

Riccardo

Sounds like Octane on floppy disks may be an option after all. IBM - who? Completely insignificant in anything other than the mainframe department.

Sounds like the price of Octane will be going up in order to fund all these people.
