Yeah, I think this is a great and stimulating competition but I have sume doubts... 60 seconds PMC on gtx 680 is too much fast...so the scene will be shortly unusable with next-gen video cards. I propose 120 seconds benchmark time. I think the winner should be awarded with a gtx titan, at least.
Good luck to everyone!
Andrea Mannori

win 8.1 x64; nvidia 770M driver 340.52; octane standalone 2 + c4doctane 2.

60 seconds is not a hard limit (and reasonably noise free is ill defined :). We just want to make sure that benchmark users with low-end cards don't have to stare at noise during the whole benchmark. I know it's a tough one. On one end we want to show off the capabilities of Octane and on the other we want to make the benchmark as usable as possible for everyone.

But please don't get caught up by the hard metrics. It just has to be reasonable to use on a variety of hardware.

cheers,
Thomas

Ok, here's my scene, I started out with this:

Image
Some blocky tunnel thingie

And then added the Octane logo:

I think it looks pretty cool ;)
Obviously it is still an early wip, i'll add some stuff to it and maybe change the colors, I don't know.

Cheers,
Shruszka

Yes, thanks for reminding me. I've updated the first post with the resolution restriction.
