Here comes more exciting news for everyone as the new OctaneRender™ for Cinema 4D plugin comes to the fore. Developed by Ahmet Oktar
using Octane's SDK, the OctaneRender™ GPU-based rendering engine is now closely integrated into the Maxon® Cinema 4D modelling environment.

OctaneRender™ is currently recognized by many industry professionals and 3D graphic visualization artists as the most advanced and fastest GPU-based
physically-based render engine with an advanced and flexible node-based workflow and user-interface. Now, with our new plugin products, you can have
the most advanced, fastest physically-based render engine on the market tightly integrated into your 3D modeling and animation software.

This new plugin will provide a fast workflow and rendering pipeline suitable for interactive editing and fast final animation rendering output by using Cinema 4D's
environment for scene setup. Fine-tuning and animating all parameters for objects, materials, lights, media are done all from inside Cinema 4D.

CINEMA 4D VERSION REQUIREMENTS

This release requires Cinema 4D 13,14, 32 and 64bit, on Windows XP, Vista, 7 and 8.


FEATURES/FUNCTIONALITY

This is a list of current Maxon® Cinema 4D and Octane Render features supported by the plugin:

-Live renderer window that show rendering in progress with current rendering information.
-Loading of the Cinema 4D scene into the OctaneRender engine and rendering to the Live Viewer, Picture Viewer, Batch rendering and network rendering
-Live update camera, lights, environments, materials and also geometry(experimental)
-Full geometry support, including n-gons
-Support for Mograph, particle and hair with geometry option, also some third-party plugins
-Support of full transformations and deformation in polygonal objects, including parenting, bones, etc.
-Full support of HyperNurbs
-Support of dynamics, mograph objects
-Arealights, Infinite Light and Sun Light, Sky supported
-Support of Octane thinLens, panoramic, orthographic Camera and C4D standart camera
-Render instances are supported
-Material converter for changing standart materials and some other types to Octane materials
-Quick Previewer for flytroughs or full animations
-Outputs for Alpha, z-depth, material id, wireframe, shading/geometry normals, positions, texture uv channels
-Material LiveDB is not supported in this version

Octane nodes supported inside Cinema 4D:

-Render target: Camera Imager, Camera postprocesing, Daylight environment, Directlight kernel, Infochannel kernel, PMC kernel, Pathtracing kernel, Texture environment, Postprocessing and Thinlens/Panoramic camera.
-Emission nodes: Blackbody emission and Texture emission.
-Material nodes: Diffuse, Glossy, Specular, Lightportal and material mixer nodes.
-Medium nodes: Absorption and Scattering.
-Procedural nodes: Cheks, Marble, Rigedfractal, Turbulence and Wave nodes.
-Texture nodes: Float, GaussianSpectrum, RGBSpectrum and texture image nodes.
-Tools nodes: Clamp, ColorCorrect, CosineMix, Falloff, Invert, Mix texture and multiply nodes.

COMPATIBILITY AND OCTANERENDER STANDALONE REQUIREMENT

To run OctaneRender™ for Cinema 4D, you need to have an activated OctaneRender™ Standalone copy on the machine you wish to install the plugin onto. You cannot purchase only the Cinema 4D plugin and use it without also owning an activated copy of OctaneRender™ Standalone on your machine.

A demo version will be available shortly.


HOW TO PURCHASE LICENSES

A license for the plugin product alone will cost 99 € while in the initial open beta phase, and 199 € when the final version of the plugin is released.
The plugin will require the user to have a valid OctaneRender™ Standalone version installed and activated. If you don't have an OctaneRender license yet, you can purchase both the plugin and the engine/standalone licenses as one bundle during the beta phase for 279 euros
You can also purchase a 3, 5 or 10 pack of OctaneRender™ for Cinema 4D licenses, just like OctaneRender™ Standalone Edition packs.


INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS

Please follow the installation instructions in the manual http://render.otoy.com/manuals/Cinema4D/. There are zip files for both 32 and 64 bit versions of each of Cinema 4D 13 and 14 found in the downloads section of the customer area of our website.
Once installed, run Cinema 4D and confirm the installation via c4dOctane->Octane Live Render command on Cinema 4D Plugins menus.


OCTANELIVE®

Just like OctaneRender Standalone, The Cinema 4D plugin product also needs an OctaneLive license and be activated on a machine.
This has to be done in the plugin interface, and is covered in the manual. It can only be done after an OctaneRender Standalone license is already activated on the machine in question.


NVIDIA DRIVER REQUIREMENTS

This version requires video driver 301.42 or higher.
It is also highly recommended that you have your Windows display adapter set to a non-Octane rendering graphics card (ie. your on-board graphics card, or a second graphics card).


LIMITATIONS

Material previews only works Live Viewer opened or a render started once. When a scene changed, may not show previews until resend scene to Octane renderer.
Material selection on Live Viewer not yet implemented
Geometry updated on Live Viewer works some limitations. It not works with generator objects at this release. This mode support material assign and remove.
Opengl previews limited with only a few nodes.


ISSUE RESOLUTION

UPDATE: Several new users have reported problems activating the plug-in. The plug-in needs to run in Administrator mode
on the first launch after installing the plugin and on re-start after entering the user info. Once this is done, it doesn't need to run
as admin anymore. This issue will be fixed in an update.


If you have any issues, please report them here, and include the following information:

- Operating System (ie. Win XP, Vista, 7, 8)
- 32 or 64 bit
- Amount of RAM
- Graphics Card(s) - model (ie. GTX 580, 3GB)
- Nvidia driver version
- Cinema 4D version (Cinema 4D -> Help -> License Information -> Version and Build Number

In the unlikely event of a crash, pls provide the dump report from the c:\Users\[username]\AppData\Roaming\MAXON\Cinema4Dr[version]_XXXXXX\_bugreports\_BugReport.zip
Either post or email (to ahmet[at]aoktar[dot]com) the file from this folder.

hello,
I am very excited to test it.

But is that the policy for the plug-in will be the same as the standalone version? buy the windows version does give me access to it mac version when it is ready?

Yes, the same license is for Windows, Mac and Linux. The Mac version of this plug-in will be ready very soon, it's just a matter of days.
