I cannot get Octane to render within LW. The standalone version works on this machine.

- Operating System XP 64
- 12GB Ram
- 8800 GT (display) GTX 275 render
- Nvidia driver version - 306.94
- Lightwave version - 11.5

The render prepares geometry, then does nothing. RENDERING Samples/Total 0/0.
I can cancel out, LW does not crash.

Same with IPR. Does preprocessing, then shows "Updating scene in GPUs" and nothing else. No image.

Thanks

Perhaps there is a problem with your GPU, it is a bit old, and I think that Octane has some limitation with it. Are you using for example the PMC kernel? ... it is not supported in your GPU. Also I think that postprocessing node doens't work.

Is your GPU listed and enabled in the plugin options panel?

Please, try to load the dragon sample scene and init rendering to see what happens.

I am testing the plugin with an old GTX 285 GPU that I have in my studio and I can confirm that this release doesn't work with with this GPU. But good news are that the new SDK available for the developers works fine here with it.

Next public beta release is going to support this GPUs, but if you want to use the plugin with your system now, please write to me at [email protected] and I will try to send to you a pre-release of the next beta with the libs that work for you ASAP.

Any way we could get material examples since Live is not enabled yet? Just curious do you think eventually it will work with lightwave to access all the materials online? If not would be cool for lightwave community to pool all materials for use.

Octane Live materials is something I want to try to add to the plugin, but can be something really hard if I want to convert a Octane node tree to the Lightwave node editor tree. Perhaps the way to add Live materials is to add a new node that may work like a conection between Live and LW, but currently I am not sure about when I am going to be able to add this feature.

Anyway it is in the roadmap for 1.x if it is possible with current LW and Octane SDKs.

Is there a way to set the maximum samples in the IPR? The kernel settings don't work for this, when set to 10 for example. The IPR still render unlimited samples.
And pressing pause every time is not really usefull.

IPR is designed to work forever. Why do you want to have a maximun samples on it? ... you can use the main render F9/F10 if you want to render a image until a sample count.

I'm running on 1 GPU at the moment, and it's making LW really sluggish. Adjusting settings/materials become really hard with a sluggish machine. And for the first setup phase I really don't need more then 20-50 samples.
