looking documentation contributors

Hi all,

We will be setting up a mediaWiki on our site soon,
to build a documentation and tutorial repository for octane render.

Philbo and EnricoCerica will be the 2 employees of our new company that will manage this wiki.
It will be readable by anyone, but not editable, editing is only for philbo and enrico and possibly more documentation contributors.

If you are interested in helping us by writing some documentation and tutorials about octane render,
feel free to apply here and we can include you in this group.

Since we are a startup company facing quite a few initial setup costs,
and we will be selling beta licenses at very cheap prices,
we currently are not in a position to hire or pay people who will contribute to it.

As such this would be volunteer work until further notice.

Please post here if you're interested in helping us out, only people serious about contributing should do so. :)

Note to translation offers: We currently are not accepting any 'translation offers' as i feel it does'nt really help much to have people translate documentation to other languages before the primary english documentation is complete.

One of the primary focuses with regards to tutorials would be video tutorials.
If you think you are capable of doing nice video tutorials and interested to help us out, please apply.
For video tutorials we do need people who could make them in different languages.

Thanks :)
Radiance

Well im already working on:

- Material sphere test scene
- SSS test scene
- Jewellery test scene (a ring with a diamond like shape, two materials)
And maybe more If anyone has ideas.
I will share the geometry in nurbs (3DM) and very high poly (obj)

for the OBJ, try to keep it compact.
testscenes that don't work for lots of people aren't very usefull.
don't go for millions of polies, but hundreds :)

note that SSS is not planned for v1.0 so it will take a while before it's implemented.

Yep Im not going to make millions :) Maybe a poly every 3° and no poly smaller than 5mm
I know that SSS is not planned for v1.0 but its very important to build the material scene as if SSS was already here.

Here's a first preview, camera angle is actually centered to sphere normals.
Every round surface is in rounded surface class (not G1 / G2 or G3) because rounded is the most common type of surfaces.

Here's a little update, what do you think ? Improvements ?

Update: Here's a little scene for glass / Subsurface materials

I uploaded OBJ of both those objects at 3° angle per polygon in NGONS
I got some modifications to do I think but you can already download these and see if everything works.
download here -> http://rapidshare.com/files/335898429/o ... re_sss.rar

What is needed is someone to make UV, make a ground plane with a grid, and make an "octane render" sticker on the sphere.
Also someone should build the scene into Octane specially with good lighting.
Also if someone could provide 3DM or IGES files of gemstones it would be usefull im not into jewelery ;)

I can write some documentation, translate engineering docs to laymen docs, and video tuts as well, once I get software that is. Biggest thing is documenting as much as possible. This is one of my bigger complaints with blender. Too many things are brought to the front without proper docs to instruct everyone from pro's to newb's. I'm cheap too (read "free").

I can't make videos as I only speak English.

However I can write documentation, but I would be much happier developing test scenes such as large out-door, in-door and studio scenes for people to test Octane with, and if allowed perhaps some assets (Models and materials) for people to use with Octane, such as furniture models etc.

I think if you have a section on the site with a lot of content to download for projects, it'll be more appealing to new users and it'll keep the attention of the current users.
