Im new on Octane and Im really impressed about the speed and the overall look on rendes vs Cycles. But im having some trouble, hope someone can help. In the viewport preview my image looks really bright, but when I render looks really dark, is that normal? And also, is there documentation on Octane Blender 2.80? I need to read a lot because ima having trouble with the nodes...

To get the same look you need to make sure that:
1. Blender's color management is set to None and View to default. Exposure and gamma are reset to default values.
2. You have enabled Octane Imager for both preview and Camera. The best way, if you work with one camera, it to set Imager to Override in View settings (N panel).

So I hope I am not writing about same issue as someone. I tried to read through all of the comments but may have missed it.

So weird issue with Octane render in Blender:
1. if you delete the camera the octane render starts bugging out, creating a camera in a scene seems to fix that. In a previous version I had issues where if I place something bellow the grid the whole render would become black ( actually it was just the item that somehow becomes huge, thus being inside the item making the whole scene black and with no possibility to zoom out.
2. Also not 100% sure as I can't test it now, but I am pretty sure the "follow smoothed normals" works much better in standalone, I see no difference between vertex and smoothed normal in this version.

Thanks for any suggestions and help.

p.s. will there be access to Live DB anytime for this version?

Hi, is there a way to force Octane to update the vdb file each frame? I can manage to render 5 or 6 frames in a row without problems but then it starts to render the volume as a black box. I have to manually reassign the material to the geometry in order for it to read the current vdb in the sequence again, but in another couple frames it starts rendering it as a black box again. I'm using the "$6F$" code in the file path and that part is working fine. I've read somewhere on the forums that you need to activate de "Update Volumetrics" option, but I simply cannot find the option in the Blender version, not even in the node editor. I'm new to both Blender and Octane so any help would be greatly appreciated. :)

Hi!

No, there's no "Update Volumetrics" option in Octane for Blender. It's just something that needs to be fixed. We're very close to a new free tier release of Blender 2.8, with many bug fixes and more supported features.

Sorry if this has already been brought up but materials don't appear to be working for me. Judging from the logs it appears octane is having trouble with the materials when I go to render, all I get is black objects and no lights:

so, does anybody knows how to make viewport rendering respect boolean modyfier?
is there some setting I should turn on?
this is what it looks like and it is totally not what expected

We just updated download link to the 20.3. This version is aiming at some new feature completion. About the current collected issues, we will solve them in the next version.

The change-log from 20.2
    -Updated to 2019.1.1
    -Supported Hair
    -Supported Octane Render Layer
      - You can use the Octane render layer system as you did in OctaneBlender with Blender 2.79(e.g. 17.x and 18.x)(The setting are under "Property-View Layer" panel)
      - Now OctaneBlender can recognize the Collections correctly - which is introduced in Blender 2.8(Please check the sample)
    -Fixed the collection instance crash
-Added "Custom Properties" in the material panel
    -Removed extra thin layer socket
Known issue:
- Toon material preview may crash due to the issue in SDK 2019.1.1

You need to hide the object that cuts the other in outliner.
