is it possible to have the section views exported to Octane so we can create nice cross sections of our models just like in Inventor?

It's been a while since I wrote the plugin, so I cannot remember the exact status of section views. If you send me a simple scene with a section view setup, I can take a closer look.

not even sure that this can be saved.

What I mean is the function that allows you to cut your model along a plane (or 2 planes) to examine the interior of stuff without altering the model. It's just the display that is different. You find that command under view / appearance / quarter/half/three-quarter section (foldout).

In the attached picture you can see a simple model cut in half (half section view) in inventor but it shows completely in Octane. I'd like to be able to get the same view as in Inventor shown in Octane.

I will get back to you on this in a couple of days (once I get some other Octane plugin issues out of the way).

I have had a good look into this, and unfortunately it doesn't appear to be supported by the Inventor API (ie. the Inventor API will not provide the geometry after the section view has been applied - it supplies all the scene geometry). I know of a number of Octane users who have requested support for section views within Octane - so hopefully this will be added to the Octane API sometime in the future.

Thank you for checking this out. would be a really nice thing to have especially for large installations.

guess I have to export and do it in another program then until it's supported.
