Sorry you are having these problems David. Does Octane Standalone work (ie. does it render if you add a Glossy Material to the nodegraph)? What does the Windows->Display Octane Log from Octane Standalone show after rendering?

Hi Paul,

Standalone works fine when adding a Glossy material, I added the material also to one of the chess pieces from the sample file, no issue. I have only really started using Octane (very early stages of learning)

Thanks - can you post the Octane Log from Octane Standalone from after you have rendered something simple with it. And can you also post the log from the Revit plugin pls. And just to confirm - are you running the same version of Octane Standalone as the Revit plugin? (ie. you need to test Octane Standalone 3.02 with the plugin version 3.2.0.41).

I had installed the version in my license download area 3.01
Have now downloaded version 3.02, but do I install over the top of 3.01 or do I need to Deactivate 3.01 uninstall then install 3.02?

Just to clarify - did Octane Standalone actually render when you did this?

Install in addition to 3.01 (so you can either run 3.01 or 3.02 Standalone). 3.02 is superior to 3.01, so you can safely uninstall it if you wish, but it is not necessary.

Hello Paul,

If you mean render in the Octane Viewport, then yes. I installed version 3.02 rebooted and ran the plugin again in Revit, this again crashed Revit with the same initial problem. I do not want to persevere with this any longer so uninstalled the plugin from add/remove programs and I was then unable to start Revit (got a message that tbb.dll was missing). I had to run a repair install of Revit to get Revit running again.
I would like to request a refund for the plugin and was wondering how I go about this?

I will ask someone from Otoy to contact you.

Two quick questions in the meantime:

1) Had you previously installed the demo version of the plugin on that PC?
2) If your Revit version English, or another language?
3) Have you tried the 2.25 version of the plugin - which uses the old Octane authentication system?

Thanks

Thanks David. The crash you are experiencing is consistent with the behavior some users experienced with version 3.01 of the plugin from the new authentication system, so I am concerned that you got it with 3.02 too. Version 2.25 of the plugin should work fine for you if the new authentication system is the reason for the failure. It would be good if you could confirm this pls, but I understand if you have had enough.
