Hi

I've been struggling with photo realism on this bathroom scene. I'm not sure if its my settings or what. I used Poliigon for some of the materials. maybe my resolution setting is off.
please any advice would be great, i'm pretty new to this.

Looks like you've got extra light coming from Texture Environment. Try setting your Texture Environment color to black: Octane Settings/Settings/Env.

May be also you could make the light coming from outside stronger so it burns the floor and add some aperture depth of field in the lens ... Often in reality direct light is stronger in interiors due to the iso and aperture used to get the interior light right ...

Try to have a realistic point of view. :-)

Lighting is bad i can instantly tell.
I would start with HDRI lighting first, then mby adding sun o the HDRI to see if that makes it better and as final lighting add emission to these ceiling lights.
Also make sure the scale of objects is right, to make sure the shadows etc has realistic softness/sharpness.
