I am not sure if this was happening before but I am noticing that when the plugin is initiated for the first time when I open Archicad it starts caching materials.
When it is loaded and I am starting the viewport it starts again caching materials.
In a compilcated model you have to wait double the time.
Is this normal?

Yes, that is the way the plugin has always worked. It is an unfortunately side effect of having the ArchiCAD main API, and the rendering API completely separate, so the caching step is needed.
