Disable casting shadows?

Hello together,

is there a way/trick to disable shadow casting of a material?!
I scanned nearly the whole forum for a solution but didn't found a proper solution.
Apart from Standalone or tricks with renderpasses.

I want to do an animation in Archicad with a cylyndrical panorama as background
and avoid of course editing each frame with renderpasses or so.
The background should not move with the camera, too, so texture environment is not an option.

I've played already with making the material an emitter, but either the material is too bright or the
shadow of it too dark.

Thanks in advance for any ideas!
Artur

The ArchiCAD plugin puts all ArchiCAD scene geometry into a single mesh node - so you cannot turn off shadows for the background like that. However you could load the cylinder as a proxy, export the animation to OCS, load into Octane Standalone, untick shadows on the proxy Mesh, then render the animation. Or you could export a single from from ArchiCAD (with the cylinder as a proxy), then use the camera flythru generator script at http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=73&t=41365.

You could also render the scene without the cylinder (with alpha channel enabled), and then re-render with all scene geometry hidden, but the cylinder added. Then merge the two layers in Nuke/After effects.

OK :D
I'll check out what will work best for me...probably the last tip, with alpha channel, at the moment.

But the flythru generator is intereseting, too. Thanks for the link! Didn't hear abot it yet!
