I have some work to do on the plugin - so a 2.05 version should be available early next week.

Hi Paul,

The maximum of material name is 50 characters, right?
But which parameters are due to that when I get an error on the maximum...?
...name of OBJ and MTL, name of texturemap, name of path to OBJ and or texture, combination of mentioned or otherwise?

I tried different things to get purchased OBJ's to work of shortening names, but that is a lot of work when having to change all the pathnames and texturenames of OBJ and within the MTL files, therefor I ask.

Hi Jeroen - which specific error are you getting pls?

Max proxy OBJ filename (incl path) is 260 chars. Same for the CSV scatter filename.

Material names are limited to 50 chars in total. Materials name for proxies have this limitation, but proxy material names are also preceded by the OBJ filename (excluding path) and an '_'.

Hi Paul,

It looks like it is pasting the obj name and material name together:
OBJ name = cgaxis_models_34_01.obj
in MTl the newmtl = cgaxis_models_34_01_01

And as you can see, it has "_"in the name...
so tat is the problem? But only the "_" in the name of the OBJ and of the material itself?

Hi Jeroen - the plugin adds "proxy_" to the front of the material name (you can see this when you export to Standalone) - this is to differentiate proxy to normal materials. So proxy material names have the limit set to 41 characters. I will correct the error message to reflect this. The simple solution is to rename the OBJ filename (and MTL file) to be shorter.

I have refreshed the installers at the top of this thread with:

2.5.2.8
- Compiled against Octane 2.05.2. IMPORTANT: This release changes the way the exposure is calculated. See the Octane Standalone release notes for 2.05 for details. The plugin will automatically convert old exposure values from scenes saved with previous versions of the plugin to the new system. However it cannot convert your default or exported rendertargets to the new system, so if using a gamma <> 1, you will to adjust the exposure accordingly, and then Save as Default.
- The last used render save folder is now remembered for the current session
- Corrected "Proxy material name too long" error message content
- Fixed rare crash when converting materials
