Hi all,

Attached is Zap Andersson's halftone shader running in Octane.

This is from here:
https://github.com/ADN-DevTech/3dsMax-OSL-Shaders

Update: I have made some tweaks and added another way to use the shader.

Ideally you would do some post to apply this effect, which you can do currently using render jobs:
halftone-post.orbx

halftone.png

Otherwise an alternative is to tweak the imager so that it looks correct from a particular angle:
halftone-imager.orbx

Nice...but it acts more of like a dot overlay rather then a halftone. it doesnt react to shadows in regard to the point size etc :/

Yes, I was hoping this OSL shader had a good way of driving a parameter based on surface illumination. That's one of the many shader nodes I miss in Octane - just a basic, "get illumination value of the surface and pass it on". I've got a pretty good etching shader I made in Maya that I'd love to port over, but so far I haven't been able to do much with it.

Are you having any issues using the ORBX, or do you mean how to use it in your particular scene?
