OctaneRender workaround for magicbook geo in c4d

Hi everyone. This is by no means an endorsement, just something that came up at support. This might be useful for some of you.

It seems that MagicBook uses planes per leaf and each leaf has a back page and a front page. In Octane, an image texture would follow the normal side of the plane and because MagicBook is a third party plugin, Octane has no inherent support for it so applying the images are not so straightforward, however, it is still possible.

First, here is a nodegraph in Octane Standalone on how you can put two images in the two sides of a plane:

You can of course invert which side each image will show.

So how to apply the concept above via the c4d plugin and make it work with the geo produced by MagicBook, here is the workaround:

(1) setup the magicbook:

(2) recreate the pages as octane mix materials, eg for images on page 5 and 6:

(3) apply the mix materials, eg:

At this point, you'll notice that the back page of the leaf (plane) needs to be flipped horizontally...
Here's a trick:

(1) On the shader attributes of the image that would be placed at the back of a plane, switch the border mode to "mirror":

(2) Have a play at the internal transforms of the box projection:
