One quick tip to fake bloom in photoshop:

1. Duplicate layer.
2. Apply gaussian blur to the duplicated layer (the more blur, the more bloom... experiment)
3. Change its blending mode to "screen".
4. Control the bloom strenght with the opacity slider.

One thing I do in addition to this is to go to image-> adjustment-> threshold. adjust the slider so that you have just the highlights. this can give you much more control. Sometimes its good to use the above workflow, then do this on top of that to really pop out highlights.

Totally agree. I do it by Select>color range, so you can select the highlights by picking it and expand/contract the selection. Basically is the same result. Combining both blooms gives the best look if you use them wisely.

Been working on photoshop for 20 years and still cannot figure out why I never thought of post processing my octane renders with it. Sometimes you are looking too far for a solution you already possess....
