Flat over the land

Hi,

I'm trying to finish some old projects, so here are some more images.
Made with Blender
Marvelous Designer for fabrics
Rendered with Octane V3.00 Alpha 9/10 on 2 x GTX580 & 2 X GTX780 using pathtracing
As often, I added plane emitters on the windows to help light inside the room.
Other than that, nothing special to say.

as your habit....simply great shots Enrico!. Just few questions:
- for reach the desired contrast (don't know if or how much you play with the film response and/or with the gamma), do you tweak the "GI clamp" or the "diffuse depth" values keeping them low?
- and what about the "max exploretion strenght"?...it has kept at zero?
- some light source (like walls/ceiling neons, or some table lamp) is fake? (no sample or "cast illumination" disabled) in order to avoid firefiles?
- added some post to reach such sharp images?

....Don't worry Enrico, even if you would tell me all your "secrets", I wouldn't be able to produce the half of the mood of your renders  ....people like you have a plus gear, and are called "artists" ;)

Congrats and cheers,
Paolo

Thanks guys,

Smicha : Yep, I forgot to mention that cloths are made with MD

Paoloverona :

No secret there, here are the parms for Pathtracing, nothing special I think :

Capture.JPG

All light sources cast illumination, however as I use mesh emitters on the windows to increase the incoming light they reduce the effect of the other light sources and they probably also contribute to reduce fireflies.
And yes there is some post using Gimp to fix some light issues and to add the sky.

And finally, we all have an artist on us, but I discovered than being less technician made me more artist ;)

Thanks Enrico. Forum needs people like you and it will help Octane as a product too.

I have quite ok Computer and software background but sometimes still struggle with software/Technical side of Octane.

Thanks Enrico. Forum needs people like you and it will help Octane as a product too.

Hi Enrico,
have you noticed some differences in output between V2 and V3?: in good part of my old scenes (50%) they look little darker

Hi Enrico,

I'd love to know the details of the shader for the carpet. Is it separate geometry on something like Zbrush or displacement or something more complicated?

I tried an SSS type shader but it comes out looking a bit thin.
