I would've loved to have have shot the IBM 1403 for real if I could have found one here in New Zealand, working order or not, but alas I couldn't. I was really lucky to find a guy named Jeff Kellem who was in the process of creating a font based on the IBM 1403 font and when I got in touch with him he not only rushed me through a subset of the font so that I could recreate the WOW signal but he was about to make a trip to the museum where they have a couple of refurbished working 1403's and he sent me some great video and audio reference. Jeff has been really great and helpful and has even gone to the trouble of making a little mini site for the film using his font.
