Thanks Gabriele,

No I didn't use dirt but now that you mentione it, I think I could have to reduce the sharpness between the different elements of the walls.

The stained glasses are quite simple to produce.
You must use a specular material with a stained glass texture and activate the fake shadow, that's it.

Enrico, thnx for your answer.
I am not matching up to your beauty render,
but I am getting somewhere in studying the technique.
I did not get a good result in AO yet, but in PMC I am getting rays to start with :D
I don't want to hack your thread, so I posted my renders with (render- and material)settings
in the topic I started trying to get the fog effect while using the Archicad plugin.
http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=56&t=29639&p=131496#p131496
Maybe you can explain more about your setup ansd settings or show the settings you used.. that would be awsome.

Very nice effect indeed.

I've been experimenting with this on my own and have been trying to find a way to add smoke/dust/noise into the light rays. I tried to add a turbulence map in the transmission and opacity inputs with no luck. Has anyone achieved results like the image below?

Thanks!
