This is a python2-to-python3 issue, which I will fix tomorrow and post a new release.

I have not had a crash from Poser 12 caused by Octane yet, so I am guessing the crash is either due to some geometry in your scene, or Out-Of-Core issues, or the displacement amount being too high for a material in the scene. Can you please confirm that the crash only happens when you are rendering with Octane (ie. it doesn't happen if the Viewport is closed)? And can you try turning OFF Out-Of-Core memory. Also check and remove any displacement maps from material to see if that helps.

If you bundle up a scene which is crashing more often than not, send it to me and I will take a look.

I'm not sure how to do that and maybe you don't want my adult graphic novel scenes either lol
i am wondering if it is to do with the python thing it seems to crash more checking and accessing the textures etc mainly when I go to open the view port but sometimes when i first open the plug in but it is odd its sort of random, I keep working as is for now until your update you spoke of doing is ready, I am in the habit of saving the scene every time I make an adjustment so i don't lose everything on a crash

I have posted an EXPERIMENTAL Octane 2021.1 release at https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=77770&p=400967 which you should try to see if it resolves your crash. Make sure to keep a copy of the Octane 2020 version of your scenes before saving with the Octane 2021 version of the plugin, in case you need to revert back to the Octane 2020 version of the plugin.

Also, remember to try my suggestion of disabling Out-Of-Core.

Thanks

Thank you man that seems to fix my initial problem on orbx but the next thing on the crashes i am wondering if it is something to do with mouse sensitivity and my dodgy right hand with rsi creeping in it seems to happen more when i am trying to select something like opening the view port

I've had no other reports of these types of crashes. Have you tried turning off Out-Of-Core?

I have the same problem with Standalone. Octane won't start for a very long time when USB devices are connected. I had to move everything I need for 3D on internal SSD's to prevent the long loading time of the app and have the other USB devices turned off when using Octane.
