The skin and the water drops have completely different properties, where in Octane the water would be a specular material on top of the glossy skin. In Poser we use material layers. Is there an equivalent in Octane?

Mix Material
I do that all the time, put the glossy in one material and specular in the other. Use a mask or a value to separate the two.

Thank you, that has done the trick for me. :)

Hey, I have an issue with Poser's group gizmos showing up in Octane renders as white cubes. I use a lot of groups to organize larger scenes, and I have to spend some time hunting these white cubes in my renders. I have to select each of them and make them invisible to the camera. Maybe the plugin could do this automatically, since gizmos are not supposed to show in renders anyway. Could you please correct this?

Usually the handles or chips have a unique material name.
If so, it is easy, set the opacity of that material to 0, copy then material to the clipboard, then right click and select "past xxx material to all materials called <materialname>

The grouping tool has no geometry and does not render (does not even show up in the plugin)

I wish it were that simple. The grouping gizmo material name is "preview", which may coincide with other props in the scene. The material name is not unique, so this operation is not safe

We seem to be referring to different things. but that's understandable because Poser has a "Grouping Tool" for editing geometry groups, and then a "Grouping" object to group different objects from a scene together. You can find this last one at Object -> Create Grouping from the main menu. Grouping objects have a cube gizmo, which doesn't show in renders in Poser, but it does show up in Octane renders.

Sorry used the wrong term, yes it is confusing,
For me the grouping object does not have geometry - if it had, you could use the grouping tool to create a new material group and transfer the geometry in the group so that the new material name is used.

Maybe checking what we are using - for me it is that latest octaneplugin build and Poser 11, build 35510.
So the grouping object appears in your material list?

Handles appear on some clothing (bones), some figures (face, eyes, etc) as well - this usually have distinctive names.
Using Preview as a material is not a good idea within the plugin.

Much worse than just that - they show in Octane renders as white cubes. They do show up in Poser previews as transparent wireframe mode, but are automatically removed from renders. No such luck with the Octane plugin. They do show in renders.

I just tested it and I dont see the grouping box in the Octane render when 1 object is grouped. Is there a special way you do it to make them show in Octane?

I usually have multiple objects grouped together, but at least in theory, that shouldn't make a difference. What Poser version are you using? Mine is the Pro 11.1.1.35540 x64.

It seems the plugin is looking for the name "Grouping" and hide it if it finds it. If you rename it, the grouping box will show in the plugin.
So rename it to "Grouping Room" will work, but "Room" will not work it seems.
