OctaneRender 4 for Poser [TEST and STABLE] Tweet

Hi Paul,
I haven't used Octane since switching to Poser 12, so my memory is kind of fuzzy about how the licenses work. I have Octane 4 "regular", no subscription, version 4.05.0.97. My OTOY downloads section offers all kinds of versions I am likely not eligible for, like 2019 and 2020. Is 4.05 the last one I can update to? I have upgraded to an Ampere RTX card, and it's not recognized. Does that mean I cannot use Octane anymore, with or without a plugin unless I subscribe?

Hi Ken - as Poser12 uses a new version of python, you will need the latest version of the plugin from https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=73536.

Paul, does this mean the Poser plugin for Poser 12 is no longer available unless we all purchase one of the "subscription" licenses, either Enterprise or Studio?
Is there no "Prime" version for Poser like DAZ Studio?
It's just so confusing the various versions, licenses, subscriptions...

@RGUS I think the Poser/DS plugins are available. What appears to be unavailable is a non-subscription Octane version that works with Ampere RTX cards, so unless we subscribe, we cannot get any more updates for the "regular" Octane 4. That's what I am trying to find out here. If that is so, then the moment we upgrade from the old GTX cards to the new RTX Ampere, Octane will no longer run unless we subscribe and become eligible for updates beyond the non-subscription Octane 4. If that is the case, then that's how they will force people to subscribe or look elsewhere.

For Poser 12 you can use the 2020.2 Enterprise or Studio versions from https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=45&t=73536. Earlier versions of Octane will not work with Poser 12. There is no Prime version of the Poser plugin.

Regular Octane 4 is not working in Poser 11 (or standalone) either if you have an RTX 30XX GPU (Ampere), so it is not even a matter of Poser or plugin version anymore. Like RGUS said, now it's subscription of goodbye Octane.

Yea, it really seems like the crossroad here.
Either stay with what's currently working, or dive in completely.

To be accurate:

The enterprise version is available as perpetual license.
The Octane Enterprise box (or upgrade) does include the current version of Octane (2020.x) as perpetual (including updates to that version).
The license also contains a maintenance plan where you get the updates and also access to the new version when it becomes available. That new version is not perpetual.
