I cant seem to find the manual either.

You need to install into the folder containing the Poser.exe file that you run when you start Poser.

do I have to install the standalone, first to get that file? To what location?

You don't have to install Octane Standalone.

1 I'm currently installed in : C:\poser\Poser Pro 2014

2 No I dont usually install there. I usually install in the program files. However, this creates problems
down the line, Ie: windows hides certain files, etc. Also some Poser content HAS to be
in the root installation.



It gets complicated --- advanced users may know what I'm talking about.

Imho : poser has not kept up with the needs of advanced users, exterior drives, etc. { but thats in my OTHER post }

after searching forums I made the note , some time back, { per someones suggestion } to try it out of the SM normal location.

So I'm testing also.

{ Maybe it wouldn't have problems if Id named it c:\smithmicro ?? ]


THERE'S ALSO A poser.exe now


in C:\poser

But that doesn't open Poser current, I think It may be content I installed after.

Gold, the OctaneRender for Poser installer needs to be run, specifying the same folder as the Poser.exe that you run as the install location. If you do that, and the plugin is not installer anywhere else, it will work. I suggest removing the "OctaneRender for Poser" folder from any other Runtime\Python\addons folders you have.

still get those 2 errors



FIRST ERROR: WINDOWS ERROR

the Nividia GTX 880m card can not be removed or deleted { wording not exact }

and THE ENTIRE COMPUTER HANGS now till a forced reboot!

then reboot, that error goes away and I get this

Can you pls delete C:\poser\Poser Pro 2014\Runtime\Python\addons\OctaneRender for Poser, and then run Poser and make sure the crash and cuda issue are fixed. Then reinstall the Octane plugin into C:\poser\Poser Pro 2014 - are the problems resolved?

Also, which Nvidia driver do you have installed pls?

This means Poser is using an old version of python (ie. python 2.3 instead of 2.7). You may need to reinstall Poser Pro 2014 in order to correct this.

Pls re-install the latest TEST release of the plugin and let me know if it works or not.

No - that will install the wrong version of python. You need to reinstall Poser Pro 2014 (and the SR's) over the top of your existing Poser installation. Only do this if the re-install of the plugin still fails.
