Could it be, that it's still broken?
I couldn't get it to work, atm. The scattered mesh did not appear.
I used Posers hi-res square as the mesh to be scattered over the ground plane.
After switching back from Node Type "Scatter" to "Mesh" (with the mentioned refresh of the Viewport) the mesh (hi-res square) showed up again.
