Carrying hair colour over

Greetings, I finally found a hair in Poser that carries over to Octane rather decently for the stuff that I do but unfortunately I can't seem to get the colour to come across. I've tried the 'reconvert from poser' and 'reload texturemaps' but I'm simply stuck with the same colour, not the one I selected.. I also did the Octane script to populate the hair etc.. hmmm

Any thoughts on how to do this?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

Are you talking about transmapped hair or dynamic strand hair?

uhm I don't know how to tell the difference between the two?

I am trying to use Ali's HR-159 hair.. regardless of colour used in Poser, it only comes to Octane in one style of colour..

I'm sorry - but without more information, there is not a lot I can do to assist you. Some screenshots of the hair prop and material room would help.

Yes, my apologies.. I don't know enough how to ask properly which question. Attached are 3 images which I hope will be able to shed some light onto what I'm missing in the process.. The Poser colour is what I am trying to bring over to the Octane image.. but as you can see its not quite right by a long shot..?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers

I think it is bringing over the texture color. The color difference might be due to the specular, which is reflecting the background in your Octane render.

Set the gamma of the specular map to 1 and lower the specular value. Also lower the roughness. The combination of these three now causes the color to change due to reflection

Yes, that worked rather well.. takes a bit of tweaking to figure out what works best to achieve the right colours.

Many thanks!

All of Ali's hair sets work in Octane. Occasionally you might need to browse for a texture when you want to change the colour, but otherwise they render fine.

I have a lot of Ali's hairs and they are amongst the best within Poser, but some of them do 'ribbon' out in Octane (keeping in mind that I'm new to Octane so it might just be me).. When you say 'browse for a texture', can you recommend one for me to try out in order to see what you mean?

Thanks again
