Hi guys,

I'm noticing than Octane doesn't really cope well when converting clothing that has transparencies applied such as stockings etc.

I've been adjusting the Opacity manually to sort it but is there a setting I can adjust so i don't have to keep adjusting the Opacity.

Thanks Guys

Martyn

You will need to post a Poser material with a transparency that is not correctly converting to an Octane material in order for me to be able to assist you.

I know, stating the obvious here ... but putting the/a transparency map, as a greyscale image (with gamma and power at 1), into the opacity channel, worked fine for me so far.

Hi guys,

Thanks for getting back to me.

As requested please see images below.
As regards the work around Erick, I will try that but I will still have to manually adjust each part of the figure to get the desired outcome.

The figure that led me to making this post has many parts to it (as shown below) and I had to adjust the opacity on each of them to make it look right.
It was a bit of a pain and I was just making sure I wasn't missing something and struggling unnecessarily.

FIREFLY.jpg
This is a basic render of the stockings in Poser firefly
POSER MATERIAL SETTINGS.jpg
These are the settings for it. There were no transparency maps used.
OCTANE.png
This is how it looks in octane with the basic octane file conversion
OCTANE MATERIAL SETTINGS.jpg
These shows how many different parts of the stockings need to be adjusted.
OCTANE MATERIAL SETTINGS 2.jpg
These are the settings that each of the those body parts is set to by default.

As discussed, I will welcome all work arounds for manual adjustment but would prefer the auto conversion process to do a better job of converting transparencies if possible.

Based on the Poser material for "StockingsG" I do not understand how the Firefly is interpreting that to produce the 2 bands at the top of the stockings at "This is a basic render of the stockings in Poser firefly". How you got the right material? There would need to be at least a transparency map to produce those two bands at the top of the stocking. I wonder if there is other geometry involved?

Edit to the above....the plugin does not seem to be picked up the transparency amount if there is no transmap, which I will fix in the next release.

Splendid, good to hear.

In answer to your previous question he has achieved the banding simply by setting different transparency settings for each segment of the stocking.
Hence the multiple parts of the figure I need to manually adjust the transparency on.
