Several problem with iMac

Hi,

The product is amazing but I have some problems with the Poser plugin, and I don't know if is caused by my iMac or if is something I'm missing with the configuration. Several times the vieport, it alert me: "low video card memory”.
Or if I try to export the same scene in OCS, to render directly in Octane, several times it crash (this it happens when I change output resolution), or stop rendering (when I change the kernel).
The problem it happens with simple (V4 + Hair + Dress + Shoes + Plane) or complex scenes.
One last thing: when I open Poser (after restarting the system) the program tell me: "ERROR: [Errno 2] No such file or directory....", but if I restart Poser the alert it doesn't show anymore.

Hi

I suspect a lot of your issues may be due to having limited VRAM (graphic card RAM) - as indicated by the "low video card memory” alert. 1GB is a very small VRAM amount to work with. Poser needs VRAM to display the preview, and your Octane scene will also be used it - so you are potentially running out.

To minimise VRAM use by Poser, under Render->Render Settings->Preview, try SreeD, or if using OpenGL set the Preview Resolution to the minimum. You can also use the Compress Texture Maps script to minimise the size of the textures that lo into VRAM.

One last thing: when I open Poser (after restarting the system) the program tell me: "ERROR: [Errno 2] No such file or directory....", but if I restart Poser the alert it doesn't show anymore.
Are you able to post the octaneplugin.log pls? To find this, see the TEST or RELEASE thread in this forum.

Whilst you will be able to render simple Poser scenes inside 1GB, you will need to ensure you monitor VRAM use very closely and reduce the size of large texturemaps. There is a script "Scene Texture Counter" that comes with the plugin which will tell you how much VRAM the Poser scene will use.

My main PC only has a 1GB card, and never found it a limiting factor, but I was also doing single figure scenes and got pretty good at squeezing a lot into a small VRAM space.
