Paul, still need your help with Poser 2014 with service release 1. Octane not showing up in poser.

Also, with Poser 2012 and latest plug, and new card, gtx 690, all the scenes I did with the gtx 650Ti card crash Poser. Did you get the config file I uploaded? Thanks.

Resolution Sliders? Where are they?

Delete config.xml. Open a pz3 file which is not rendering. In the Settings tab, make sure the Lock Resolution button is Enabled. Make sure the resolution is set to something valid? Does the scene now render?

Also it only shows 2gb available. The card has 4gb.

My understanding is that the GTX 690 is in fact 2 cards in one, so they share the VRAM, so 4GB is actually 2GB per card, so 2GB is your effective rendering memory capacity.

Your system won't allow xml files. Tried to open in word or dreamweaver to convert to text, but just opens blank. Any ideas?

Your config.xml is blank. I will post an update later today whih handles this situation better and re-creates the config.xml when it's invalid.

Paul, still need your help with Poser 2014 with service release 1. Octane not showing up in poser.

Did 2014 pre SR1 work? Is the OctaneRender menu option in the Poser "Render" menu? Is Poser showing any startup errors?

all the scenes I did with the gtx 650Ti card crash Poser.

For any crash, can you post a screenshot of the crash message pls? Also post a copy of the octaneplugin.log file.

Thanks

Yes. Locked to 1280x960. It only happens to PZ3 files previously rendered with previous card, GTX 650Ti, and older plug. New scenes seem fine,

Also it only shows 2gb available. The card has 4gb.

Still doesn't make sense, if each card has 2gb, should not 4gb show as available rendering memory?

Did not try pre SR1. Installed both Poser and SR1 then Octane Plug. No startup errors.

I'll send it to you soon.

ONE more thing....... The eyes on V4 are rendering black. I think I saw a post for that, so I will see if I can find the solution.

Thanks, Randall.

Thanks

Hi Randall

Yes. Locked to 1280x960. It only happens to PZ3 files previously rendered with previous card, GTX 650Ti, and older plug. New scenes seem fine,

For the old scenes not rendering, is there an error message? Are you able to post an octaneplugin.log file for a scene that you have loaded and tried to render pls?

Still doesn't make sense, if each card has 2gb, should not 4gb show as available rendering memory?

The memory reporting reports the memory available to Octane for rendering, which will be 2Gig if you have 2 x 2GB cards. If you have 6 x 3GB cards, Octane still can only render a scene with a total memory requirement of 3GB, so that is what is reported. You still get 6 x the rendering speed though (or double in your case).

Did not try pre SR1. Installed both Poser and SR1 then Octane Plug. No startup errors.

Have you installed the plugin into the 2014 Runtime? Each version of Poser you have will need to plugin installed and activated.

ONE more thing....... The eyes on V4 are rendering black. I think I saw a post for that, so I will see if I can find the solution.

This is due to the eye lens covering vertices having the same position as the eyewhite vertex positions. In most cases setting the "kernel" "rayepsilon" to 0 will fix this, but if the vertex positions are identical, you may need to made the lens material invisible (set "opacity" to 0).

I notice the octane.dat is not in the root folder of Poser 2014. Could that be the problem? Should I copy it from Poser 2012 Folder?

The installer will have done put octane.dat in the correct place - no need for you to copy it.

Can you pls post the octaneplugin.log file from Poser Pro 2014? To find it - refer to the first msg in http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=45.
