I too have noticed that a lot of the lower quality texturemap sets for V4 simple have the bump as a B&W version of the texturemap, and in this situation inverting the map can help. But for good quality maps (do they really exist?) it should be needed.

Not quite sure what you mean by "bump settings I have changed in the OctaneDefaults.py is not as I set them to be". Is it possible the V4 character you loaded had previously had the Octane materials saved to the Poser materials?f] The above method works as a default now, but I cant seem to carry the "invert enabled" feature over as a default from my saved material.
I've looked into this and the Invert pin is not being correctly "retained". I will post a fix in the next few hours.
