Great work.. Also I wanted to try out for myself if running windows and mac at on the same computer constitutes it for being run under that machine perhaps in some setting. That would be an odd loop but im not sure how security works on that front.. Im sure there will be no need when both versions are fully out for Mac and PC. Timing is great though finally able to get some work done.

I'm pretty sure the Octane licensing system will pick up they are different installs, even if on the same PC/Mac.

The Octane API seems to be running extremely well on the Mac version of the Poser plugin - it's just the Poser GUI which has some subtle differences. The Mac version of Poser does not seem to have had some key wx.python bug fixes applied, so the tree representation of the Octane nodes is the area I need to make more robust.

You can run Octane only on one system at a time. In theory you might be to use it in a virtual environment, but in practice you are not, because CUDA doesn't work in a virtual environment. Which leaves you with booting into a different OS and it might work without deactivating/activating your license, but it doesn't have to. It really depends on your system. In the worst case you have to deactivate your license, switch OS and reactivate your license.

It only has 32 cuda cores, and I thought the lower limit was 96. But you might be lucky. It would be very slow. Also only has 512MB VRAM.

I have refreshed the Mac installer at the top of this thread to bring it up to release 1.16a6. Pls re-download and install.

It contains some fixes to the GUI event system, so I am hoping that will assist with the crash that people have been getting after 20 or so minutes. I am still getting a crash if you close Poser whilst the Octane Setup Window is open. Are others also getting this?

Hi Paul,

The latest refresh seams to be very stable. Played with it 1 plus hours last night no crashes. Their are still a few GUI glitches with the boxes, i can take some screen shots if you need me to, but they do not seam to affect the stability. Will keep on testing more this week.

Yes I do still get the crash when Poser closes if the window to the plugin is open.

Thanks

Nick

That's great info - thank you Nick.

Yes I do still get the crash when Poser closes if the window to the plugin is open.

I've spoken to Smith Micro about this and they have given me some ideas which I will try in the next week or so.

Their are still a few GUI glitches with the boxes, i can take some screen shots if you need me to, but they do not seam to affect the stability.

The solution to this is to re-scale the whole Setup dialog and re-position all the widgets, which I have been resistant to do, but I think it has to be done. I'll look at it in the next week or so.
