Also, should I download and install the Cude 5.0 to0olkit driver?

Thanks. What is a "notch or two ?" LOL. Couple of meghz? Never done that. I restarted Poser, and am rendering again. I will send screen shots of log and animation tab if it happens again. Thanks for your help. I GREATLY appreciate it.

From memory I backed my core clock off by 30MHz. Was having a lot of cuda errors prior to that, and now none.

My card comes with OC Guru II, but in the interface, it shows the clock speed as 0 and I can't change it.

Sounds like something is amiss with the software. It's not showing any readings - so maybe some sort of install error. I assume you have a Gigabyte card? You can use TechPowerUp GPUZ (free) to see what your current clock speeds are.

Also, should I download and install the Cude 5.0 to0olkit driver?

Should be no need for this.

I emailed nVidia and told them i need instructions on doing this procedure but have not heard back from them. Any other ideas? Thanks.

Unless it's an Nvidia branded card, they probably can't help you. I assume you card is a Gigabyte - so Google for a Gigabyte overclock tool.

Could not find cuda log.
Go into poser, General Preferences, Misc and the Poser temp folder will be there. Then after an animation failure, check that fold and post us the cuda.log file.

Hi

Just wondering if underclocking your card had fixed this issue?

I have now been able to reproduce this issue. Restarting the animation at the last successfully rendered frame seems to work fine.

I will escalate this issue to the Otoy team, since it is an Octane issue, rather than related to the plugin. I will post here any updates.

I am still trying to get the OC Guru software to work. I downloaded the current version from Gigabyte, but after clicking the execute file, the interface does not show up. Soooo. I have a support ticket awaiting an answer. I have tried restarting the animation at the last frame, and still the same thing. Stops after 2 or 3 frames.

So, do I still need to underclock the GPU? UGH, I have 4 clients waiting for their animations. They only want the octane quality. I hope this is fixed REALLY soon, as I will lose hundreds of dollars in lost work. OK, please keep me posted. Thanks.

Otoy are looking at this issue at the moment, but it may not be trivial to fix. I can rendering 600-1000 frames before it stops rendering - so you definitely have a hardware differential there. I would be very interested to see if the underclocking workaround works for you (I'm certain it will), so pls keep at it. I'll keep you up to date on progress at this end.

OK, thanks. Soon as I get the GPU underclocked, I'll let you know.

OK, the Clock Speed is set to 1033mhz. I backed it down to 1000mhz and still the same problem. Renders a few frames and then stops. Any other ideas?

OK, now..... If in the Animation Tab, I deselect refresh Geometry and select refresh scene, and it makes it to the end of animation. On a simple animation, it's ok, but on a more complex animation with more figures and scene elements, it ads more time to each frame rendering. Why won't it make it set to refresh geometry? It's much quicker. UGH!!!! Losing my patience with this. I have clients waiting, and I have nothing but problems.
