Hi there Paul. I have this issue with the test build where when I enable alpha channel so that my background would not be rendered, the brighter spots on my character also dissapears.

I'm pretty sure this may have been reported already - as an Octane Standalone issue. Have a search through the forums and see what you find. If there have been no other reports (or workarounds), let me know and I'll report it to Otoy.

Is it possible this is just a Viewport display issue? If you save to PNG does the problem persist?

Also check http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=30384&p=133424&hilit=alphachannel#p133424 and http://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=30829&p=135044&hilit=alphachannel#p135044. Plus, is you are using Matte for the ground, make sure the Transmission pin of the ground material has a > 0 value.
