I need guys with experience in this business to give me some sound advice. My current setup is I52500k with 16 gig ram and a Geforce gtx 670 2gig. I am looking to get my render speeds up. now I need to get a addon card thats gonna help me the most in this regard. I can buy a GTX 590 3gig or another gtx 670 2gig. I know that the gtx 590 is faster and would by itself probably render at the same speed as two gtx 670. Ram would be split tho in two 1.5gig sections which is gonna limit me more. but I might get 9 ms/sec together with my gtx 670. where two gtx 670's might give me 6ms/sec. Im also wondering about the future Octane support for the newer Kepler cards with SM 5.0 capability, and if the performance would increase on the newer cards in the future, wich would make the 2x gtx 670's a safer long term option. Any advice would be appreciated.

actually I would buy gtx670 4gb, the best option in my oppinion.
Just bought one for myself few days ago =) very good value..
considering architectecture, available vRam, heat vs performance.

I'm also in a battle with myself, about getting a new video card.
My current one, a GTX570, while rendering fast, is very limited with it's 1.2GB.
So a GTX670 with 4GB and it's lower power consumption would come in very handy.
But I'm still not sure, about compromising render speed for all this (plus the costs of the new card on top of it)

well for me in speed was step down as I've got a pair of 460s. but really needed more vRam. on the other hand my system had only 8gb or normal ram =) so upgradind video card turned out into building entire system with new mobo, new CPU, new RAM new video card.

if they will have somewhat cloud rendering solution, it might be well worth to have capable, but not somvery fast system on Your desk, while rendering final stuff You can do way faster using Otoys solution =) but You need to have enough big vcard to fit Your scene.

I'm not sure, but I gues they powerUo their servers with something like k10 as it might make a lot of sence in performance aspect =)..so that might be 4gb versions =).. but that's only bold gues..

1 x GTX 590 3Gig RAM would reduce your current RAM situation fro 2Gig to 1.5Gig. IMO, Poser really needs 2Gig if you are doing large scenes, and also the added texture slots from the 600 series cards. Plus, there are have been mixed reports from people combining 500 and 600 series cards together.

If you are looking for faster render times, also consider the benefits that kernel->caustic_blur, kernel->direct_light_importance and imager->hotpixel_removal can give. For the type of renders I do, the most time is spent on glass/eyes, and tweaking those settings can help.
