If so, it is easy, set the opacity of that material to 0, copy then material to the clipboard, then right click and select "past xxx material to all materials called <materialname>
I wish it were that simple. The grouping gizmo material name is "preview", which may coincide with other props in the scene. The material name is not unique, so this operation is not safe

We seem to be referring to different things. but that's understandable because Poser has a "Grouping Tool" for editing geometry groups, and then a "Grouping" object to group different objects from a scene together. You can find this last one at Object -> Create Grouping from the main menu. Grouping objects have a cube gizmo, which doesn't show in renders in Poser, but it does show up in Octane renders.
Sorry used the wrong term, yes it is confusing,
For me the grouping object does not have geometry - if it had, you could use the grouping tool to create a new material group and transfer the geometry in the group so that the new material name is used.
Maybe checking what we are using - for me it is that latest octaneplugin build and Poser 11, build 35510.
So the grouping object appears in your material list?
Handles appear on some clothing (bones), some figures (face, eyes, etc) as well - this usually have distinctive names.
Using Preview as a material is not a good idea within the plugin.
