I have the same problem with Standalone. Octane won't start for a very long time when USB devices are connected. I had to move everything I need for 3D on internal SSD's to prevent the long loading time of the app and have the other USB devices turned off when using Octane.

Have you reported this to OTOY? I wondering if it is related to the USB Dongle authenticator.

Yes, I mentioned the problem in a Standalone update a long time ago - and also what was causing it.
