I am sorry, I mean native strand based hair, as the Thread I write here.
No news at this end. It will take a major reworking of the plugin to load strand based hair geometry. You could also raise the issue of the intermittent meshing of the strands to polygons by DAZStudio as an issue to DAZ3d.

I think the Octane 2020.1 version of the plugin (now available) should support RTX (but I don't have an RTX card, so I would appreciated someone testing this please).

Thanks

Paul

Can confirm that RTX acceleration is indeed working in the newest Prime Tier 2020 version. I'm getting additional samples per Pixels, as if I would have three GPUs without RTX in my system.
This is a huge game changer for Octane...quite impressive.

I seem to be getting consistent results in a specific workflow. Here's what I do:

Load a character with dForce hair (eg, Gorilla8 or Yeti8)
Preview PR Hairs = ON
Viewport Line Tessellation Sides = 2

This gives me full-density hair in Octane, although the hair material is white. Also, saving and re-opening the project causes the hair to disappear - as does applying hair material presets. So, not super useful, but just thought I'd share.

[Edit] Even posing the character makes the hair disappear so...

I know this doesn't resolve the issue by a far stretch and is not the best solution for hairs with massive strand count - but converting the hair item to prop from the Edit>Rigging menu gives some of the temporary results although it makes the hair static/not posable from there on. This solution is especially useful on eyebrows as those tend to massively disappear as well.

I too am hoping that we see a solution from Otoy regarding the SBHair, maybe looking the way how the plugin converts/optimizes geometry would give some answers in the works.

Yup... iRay... I think the Octane thingy is dying very, very quickly.
No contact from the developer is not a good sign.

This is my fear. I really do like using Octane (both standalone and plug-in) but noticing that this issue along with others not being resolved nor addressed as problems. Guess I'll start looking at different workflows/options or get back into iray (sigh) before I cancel my sub.
