Ok so I wanted to use the hair frizzies still, so I took out the displacement maps since I assumed that was what the problem was. So I let it render and about 6 minutes in it crashes...so...I dont know what the problem could be now. The only thing it is is two geometry shells with transparencies and textures...so it's either too many transparencies or geometry shells are being weird.
Have you checked your GPU is not overheating? Use GPU-Z to track your card temps.

Here is the file, maybe you'd like to try it out and see what results you get?
https://www.dropbox.com/s/w0nkwcy08xk7a63/m6.zip?dl=0
I just downloaded and rendered that scene and couldn't get a crash. So, check your card temps, make sure you haven't overclocked your cards (try underclocking them a fraction), and double check you have Nvidia driver 358.50 installed. As an asside, you could reduce the GI Clamp to about 10 to get a cleaner result quicker.

hmmm I've never tried underclocking before, not sure how I'd do that. I've always just left the clocks at whatever they're shipped with. I'll see how I can do that.

Hi face_off. Finally got some help making sure an issue thats been around forever wasnt my fault somehow. I won't repeat details here, but the short of it is the clipboard functions are broken. Linvanchene helped me test it in this thread:

viewtopic.php?f=44&t=48449

I'm having repeatable crashes in this version, and linvanchene was reproducing them in the v3 test version. If you could look at it some time, that would be awesome, since I actually use it quite a bit.

Hi Paul,

I have facing a weird problem with the 2.24.2.5 Octane plugin and Daz Studio 4.9. No matter how many time I assign a texture. After I save and open the scene again, the texture is missing. My DAZ library is in the F: drive but under the System tab, messages shows it is trying to find the texture in c:\users\...\My Library and reports them as not found. My content folder points to F: drive in the DAZ settings.

Any ideas ? I will try to uninstall / install DAZ studio and the Octane plugin. Hopefully that solves the issue.

Best regards,
Rajib

Update: Uninstalling and reinstalling both DAZ Studio 4.9 and Octane Plugin 2.24.2.5 did not help. The textures are still missing after saving and loading again. In the DAZ viewport, the textures are ok. They are correctly loaded from the F: drive. Octane plugin seems to continue to try loading it from the c: documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library instead of taking them from the F: drive content directory folder.

2nd Update : I was reading the 3.x.x.xx thread and looks like others had faced similar issue and you had resolved it. I did try under 3.0.6.16 and it seems to work. Able to save and load the textures back without problem. Can the same fix be made to the 2.24.2.5 ? The 3.x being alpha, I prefer using 2.x for actual work.

Rajib, does question 9 in the FAQ resolve your problem? https://docs.otoy.com/DazStudio/?page_id=15

Paul,

Nope, didn't help. For me both Load Octane Materials from .duf user presets and Automatic material updates after content loads were already ticked. Also the Missing is disabled. Everything loads excepts for the textures images. The weird part is after manually assigning them I had saved them under My Presets. When I click on them under My Presets, the preview shows the texture. Once I drag and drop it on the surface, the texture map disappears but everything else is present or if I do a Copy as new material, same thing happens, all the texture map is missing from the copy. Basically the same effect as saving and closing the scene and then reloading it.

Under the System->Messages I see all the textures are being loaded from the a folder that does not exists. My contents are installed in the f: drive, it is trying to load from the c: drive.

If I do Create as new material->Auto Material the textures load but I loose all my edits. But even if I save after this and close, reloading the scene again, does not load the textures.

If I open this scene in 3.x, the scenes opens without any of the textures but everything else is there. Once I drag and drop from My Presets to the relevant surfaces, the textures show up properly (unlike 2.x where they are missing). If I save the scene under 3.x and then open it again in 3.x, the textures are loaded properly. So the issue is only present in the 2.24.2.5 version as far as I can tell.

Hi Rajib - the test version of the 2.25 build is at https://render.otoy.com/customerdownloads/plugins/62/2b/f2/c0/OctaneRender_for_DazStudio_2_25_0_16_Win64.exe. Does that version resolve your problem?

Hi Paul,

My apologies for the delay in confirming this. I will complete this test tonight and get back to you. I also noticed something interesting with the Ver 3 plugin in the same lines. All contents load properly except for V4 (Vicrotia 4) contents. Saving and opening them again, the textures go missing in Octane even though they are shown in the DAZ Viewport. Same missing content message shows up in Octane. I am creating a test scene with default contents to see if I can recreated it in another scene and will pass the scene file for you to check. Will provide step by step instruction.

Regards,
Rajib
