This is the limited use version of the plugin.

Download files updated below for new version to fix save preferences in DS4 and interface size.

The plugin has been tested with Daz Studio3 32bit and 64bit as well as Daz Studio 4 32bit and 64bit.

Daz2Octane is designed as a tool to transfer your scene to Octane for fast GPU rendering.

This contains Daz2Octane script plugin.
It requires Daz Studio 3/4 located at http://www.daz3d.com and Octane Render http://www.refractivesoftware.com
This is the limited use version of the plugin.

To Install:

Unzip the contents of this zip to your content directory.

Example for Studio 3:
C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio3\
C:\Program Files(x86)\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio3\

For Studio 4 place the resource folder in:
C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio4
and the files in the content folder in the location of your contents.
This could be "\Documents\DAZ 3D\Studio\My Library " or wherever else you installed Daz Studio 4 content.

Usage:

Setup your scene in DS. Locate the Daz2Octane in your scripts list. Launch D2O, it will use the current default view as the render view for Octane.
On the Options tab set "Maximum number of samples per pixel", Strength of DOF effect
On the preference tab, set the location of Octane.exe and the path to a Blank.ocs file for your current version of Octane renderer (This will change in the future as the final version of OCS file is adopted)
On the lights tab select "Add Sun to scene" to add a sunlight rather than the default light.
Select "Send to Octane to transfer your scene to Octane and start rendering with the parameters on the options tab.

Happy Holidays!

If using Studio 3 copy into C:\Program Files\DAZ 3D\DAZStudio3\ or wherever you have Daz Studio installed.

This will merge with you contents and resource folders.

Sorry, Tugpsx, the plugin doesn't seem to work for me.

When I start the script, I receive a message saying :
An error occured while reading the file, see the log file for more details

So I checked the log file, but the only thing I saw was :
Executing DAZ Script file: C:/Program Files/DAZ 3D/DAZStudio3/scripts/Daz2OctaneFree.dse
Failed to load script file!

I can send you the complete log file in case you need it.

I'm using DazStudio 3.0.1.120 Advanced Edition (64-bits) on windows 7.

I'm certainly doing something wrong, but I can't figure what it is.

Thanks for your help

First, thanks. This has some really cool potential. Secondly, I have some questions / observations and I hope you can help. It's always possible I misunderstand or am doing something incorrectly.

1. Render doesn't start automatically - I need to select the object in Octane to get it to render. Is this a default behavior or am I doing something incorrectly?
2. Camera - Is the view in Octane the camera I'm using or how does it decide? The DAZ camera isn't matching the Octane camera.
3. The render doesn't automatically save. I need to do that myself. Is there a way to get the autosave to work?
4. How would one do animation with this version or is there a plan for animation renders in the next version?
5. When will the full version be available?

I have other questions, but these are the main concerns. Hope you can assist.

Try a simple experiment and double click the file in the script folder without Daz launched or even better drag the script from an explorer window and drop it on your scene.

1. Render doesn't start automatically - I need to select the object in Octane to get it to render. Is this a default behavior or am I doing something incorrectly?
Render should start automatically check the value set in max samples it is default to only 30
Specify a Blank.ocs file on the preference tab (you will have to create this by saving a blank file in your Octane version)

2. Camera - Is the view in Octane the camera I'm using or how does it decide? The DAZ camera isn't matching the Octane camera.
Octane Camera view should match current view shown in DS the demo version has some limitations. If you set your scene resolution to 1000x600 it should work.
this was done to allow users of the Octane demo version to still be able to use the script.

3. The render doesn't automatically save. I need to do that myself. Is there a way to get the autosave to work?
Disabled in demo version

4. How would one do animation with this version or is there a plan for animation renders in the next version?
Animation in future version

5. When will the full version be available?
With Beta testers, awaiting feedback on a few things (hence the delayed launch)

Hello,
how can I export Material too.
"Add Export Material" is activated but I get only the mesh in octane with an other name "undefined" as the exported and without the material.

Regards
Michael
