Hello everyone,

Does anybody know if there is the Volume Medium option in the Octane Rhino plugin like the C4D plugin?

Do you have to use Node Editor in order to use this option?

Can one load a VDB file without using the Node Editor?

Thanks in advance

Hi - to load a VDB file, add it to a ORBX file and use that ORBX as a proxy. The ORBX file should also contain the Volume Medium node, as that node is not implemented in the Rhino plugin.

Thanks

Hi Paul,

thanks for your reply. Do you mean that I will have to use the Standalone version to create a material containing the VDB then save as ORBX?

I always wonder why some features of Octane are not implemented in the Rhino version, is it just not possible?

Yes, you need to create and edit the ORBX file in Octane Standalone.

Rhino doesn't support VDB files, so adding support for them in the plugin does not really apply. It is easier to use ORBX proxies. At some point in the future I will make it possible to edit the ORBX from within the Rhino plugin.

Thanks
