Hi Paul,

the new installer work.
Anyway, I've imported a material made by the Octane Studio 2020 with the new procedural textures and I can't see them inside Rhino plugin.
Neither if I enter in the LIVE DB from the Rhino plugin I can see these great and useful textures.

Thanks,
Roy

Hi Paul,

I need to copy and paste only one new procedural texture at a time, or rhino crash here (I mean if I copy and paste the entire material).
Anyway, I can work well for now.

Thank you,
Roy

Can you give me the exact steps you are taking to get this crash please, and I will try to reproduce it and fix the problem.

I have updated the installers at the top of this thread with:

2020.1.0.120
- Compiled with Octane 2020.1 RC3
- Mesh items which have Live Geometry ON, but are NOT Block Instances or Block Definitions will now have A_USER_INSTANCE_IDS set to a non -1 value, so the Instance Range texture can now be used on these items
- Fix slow scene loading speed introduced in 2019.1.0.112 with the introduction of Clipping Plane support

Hello!

So fun to see all news etc, but how should i use them?
It doesn’t matter if you implement a hair node in the material if you don’t update the manual at the same time.
The Manual hasn’t bin updated since version 4. If i were i C4d user it wouldn’t be a problem cause you can find so much tutorials etc.
But for a Rhino user its harder.
So please explain how i should use the program, i simply don’t have the time to find out what every single change does and how i should use it.

But thanks for a great program that i probably only use 20% of it´s potential cause you guys are really bad on explaining your product.

Hi. You can refer to the following posts for the new features introduced in each of the major releases of Octane.

Octane 2018.1 - https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=70809
Octane 2019.1 - https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=72584
Octane 2020.1 - https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=74586

The release notes in the OctaneRender for Rhino posts detail which of the Octane Standalone features have been implemented.

I have updated the installers at the top of this thread with:

2020.1.4.122
- Compiled with Octane 2020.1.4
- Experimental support for the Octane Quad, Sphere Lights. Go into the Setting windows and enable the Convert Rhino Lights checkbox. Mouse-over this setting for details.
- Octane node "Groups" are now displayed in the Settings and Material tree.
- Added the OctaneLoadBackgroundImage and OctaneClearBackgroundImage command (this is untested at this stage)

Thanks
