I have updated the installers at the top of this thread with:

2020.2.0.124
- Compiled with Octane 2020.2
- Added the following Octane 2020.2 nodes: Null Material, Chaos Texture, Channel Inverter, Channel Merger, Channel Mapper, Channel Picker, Composite Texture
- Added the Octane 2020.2 feature Nested Dielectrics
- The following Octane 2020.2 features are NOT implemented: OCIO, AOV/compositing nodes, Multi-scatter tools
- The OctaneChangePinValue command will now also work for FLOAT values with 3 sliders. In this case, the Y value is set. So for example, you can set the IBL image rotation with "OctaneChangePinValue environment:texture:projection:transform:rotation 45"

Please be aware that there were a lot of code changes needed for Octane 2020.2, so treat this version as being for testing only, and please report any issues you find.

Thanks

Paul

I have updated the installers at the top of this thread with:

2020.2.3.125
- Compiled with Octane 2020.2.3
- There is a separate Rhino7 version of the plugin now. You can therefore not run the Rhino7 version on Rhino6. If you find that Rhino7 loads the previous version of the plugin, delete the following registry entries, and reinstall the plugin: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\McNeel\Rhinoceros\7.0\Plug-Ins\f109bd23-4cf3-4c0b-9f83-06be474b0152
and Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\McNeel\Rhinoceros\7.0\Plug-ins\f109bd23-4cf3-4c0b-9f83-06be474b0152
- RHINO7 ONLY: Added a potential fix for viewtopic.php?f=41&t=75280. This fix requires the latest version of Rhino, and as I don't have a 4k monitor, I was unable to test the effectiveness of this fix. Please note there is an outstanding issue with this as described in my latest post at https://discourse.mcneel.com/t/rhino-ma ... /115745/13
- EXPERIMENTAL: Added support for alternative texturemap link paths. To do this, add <AlternativeSearchPathFolders>C:\path_to_my_first_search_path; \path_to_another_search_path</AlternativeSearchPathFolders> to your config.xml file. Multiple search paths can be specified, separated by a ';'. The last missing texturemaps folder will be searched prior to the alternative texturemap link paths.

Thanks

Paul

I have updated the installers at the top of this thread with:

2020.2.3.126
- Fixed lock-up on Rhino startup when using the <AlternativeSearchPathFolders> option in the config.xml file

I would strongly recommend all users update to this release.

Thanks

I have released an experimental version of the plugin compiled with Octane 2021.1 XB1 (which contains a huge number of enhancements) at https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=77787

Hi Paul,

Ive got a new rtx 3060 GPU.
Ive installed the lastest versio of Rhino.

I had lots of problems getting the Octane to work but found that this one 2020_2_3_125_studio from my profile page on the octane page next to my subscription opens without the problems I was getting previously.

However,
Now I cant open any of my old models. I get a screen lock up with spinning wheel and not rhino not responding up the top left corner. Wait for 10 minutes no joy.

Before I spend the next few hours trying to make sense of all these posts and installing lots of drivers etc Am i on the right track and what do these screens mean.

A quick update.

The octane people sent me this one which seems to work OK so far.

Better than the previous version. Maybe I should have read all your previous posts ;)

Although I am getting this pop up when I try to close one previously created scene and load another one also with the odd crash. This seems to flash quickly.

Hi Paul,

Also, where can I find some updated tutorials for using the latest versions.

The whole material and rendering layout is very different from my older version 4.

Cheers

Hi Tim

Regarding the TimerTickEvent error, is it only happening for one scene, or all? Have you tried deleting your config.xml file? There is also a newer version at https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=41&t=77787 which may resolve this issue.

The link above also contains a video which shows some of the new Octane features which may help. For composite and layered materials, refer to the Octane Standalone manual https://docs.otoy.com/StandaloneH_STA/StandaloneManual.htm#StandaloneSTA/Materials.htm. You can also see all the new Octane features for the major builds in the release threads (https://render.otoy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=24&t=74586 for example).

I hope that helps.

Thanks

Paul
