This is the recommended thread for downloading, and posting any questions, suggestions or support queries for OctaneRender for Rhino - TEST and STABLE releases.

SOLUTIONS TO COMMON ISSUES

1) Make sure your NVIDIA drivers are up to date.

2) Make sure you have the latest Rhino Service Release installed.

3) If you get a "Package not compatible" error when installing the plugin, please follow the instructions at https://wiki.mcneel.com/rhino/5/rhi-problems -> "Package not compatible".

4) If you get an "Unable to load OctaneRenderForRhino.rhp plugin: initialization failed" error when starting the plugin, delete the HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\McNeel\Rhinoceros\6.0\Plug-Ins\F109BD23-4CF3-4C0B-9F83-06BE474B0152 and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\McNeel\Rhinoceros\6.0\Plug-Ins\F109BD23-4CF3-4C0B-9F83-06BE474B0152 registry entries using Regedit and then reinstall the plugin. If this does not resolve the problem, delete HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\McNeel\Rhinoceros from the registry and then reinstall the plugin.

5) If you get an "OctaneRender for Rhino not activated." error when rendering via the Rhino->Render->Render menu, open the plugin Setup window via the OctaneRenderForRhino command, or by adding the plugin panel to the Rhino Properties window as per https://docs.otoy.com/RhinoH/RhinoPluginManual.htm#Rhinoceros/InstallationofthePluginintoRhinoceros.htm.

6) Cuda error 999 - failed to load shader code: Multiple definition of 'cpSptStatistics' in 'cuda_teturemode' means that your plugin version is too old for the Nvidia drivers that are installed, so update to the latest version of the plugin

7) The Octane Viewport does not appear after clicking the Open Viewport button. This occurs when the Viewport was previous closed on a second monitor, or off the current screen. To resolve this, delete the plugin configuration file config.xml as per https://docs.otoy.com/RhinoH/RhinoPluginManual.htm#Rhinoceros/Configuration.htm.

Rhino Version
This version requires Rhino6, SR19 or later on Windows. MacOSX is not currently supported.

To use this version, you need a GPU of compute model 3.0 or higher. Support for Fermi GPUs (like GTX 4xx and 5xx) has been dropped. Also make sure you use a driver of version 387 or higher and if you are working on Mac OS that have a CUDA driver installed that supports at least CUDA 9.1.

Network Rendering
For Network Rendering, you must use the Octane slave release from the Octane Standalone installer which matches the exact Octane version of the plugin you are using. This version matches OctaneRender Standalone 2019.1.

Support Issues
If you have a support issue, pls provide the following information:
- Operating System (ie. Win XP, Vista, 7, 8)
- 32 or 64 bit
- Amount of RAM
- Graphics Card(s) - model (ie. GTX 580, 3GB)
- Nvidia driver version
- Rhino version and build number
- OctaneRender for Rhino version (ie. 2.0.10.8)

Thanks for the update Paul!

I've tested the clipping plane out, still seems abit buggy as not all of my objects were cut by the clipping plane in the octane viewport.
Anyways great start!

Also would it be possible to make the cut/clipped areas blacked out? or an option to black it out.
At the moment it's showing as a hollowed out wall with sunlight going through

I don't think this is possible, as Rhino is not returning faces for the clipped areas.

In checking this, I noticed that "- Experimental support for providing material previews in the Rhino Rendered view for NodeGraph materials." is causing Octane Log errors, which I will fix in the next release.

Hi Fabrizio. This is the error I mentioned at

Hi Paul,
I have a little bit of time on my hands so expect a few wishes in the next days ;-)

so lets start with something comperativly small ( I hope...)

when editing complex material I have to do a lot of vertical scrolling in the ME ... I am not able to resize the node area (please see attached pic)

Can you rework that?

Hi Paul, with the new "OctaneRender for Rhino6 2019.1.1.114" release, will there be a plugin available for regular license?
