Colours seem to show OK but texture maps don't appear in the Material Editor.
Your screenshot shows bricks.jpg, so it does appear to be showing the texturemaps in the material editor.

Hi Paul,

I think what he means is that the textures don't appear in the Material Editor Preview.

I have the same problem, material previews are rendered without textures.

Also, if I create materials in Rhino 5 and then open the file in Rhino 6 every attempt to change the material through Layer panel crashes Rhino.

I understand - thanks. This issue appears to be a Rhino6 problem, which I reported to McNeel a month ago. I have re-contacted them to see if there has been any progress resolving it.

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paul,

I found another issue related to materials. If I create an Octane material from Layers panel, import ORBX and then click OK, it doesn't save any information from the imported ORBX. I guess it's a Rhino issue though.
Also, still no fix for material previews in the latest Rhino version.

Hi Paul,

Any word back from McNeal on this issue? It's difficult to manage scenes with large material sets when you can't see what they look like in the Material Preview and have to read all of them.

Thanks,
Ryan

Not yet - but I have hassled them about it again.

This was a plugin bug, which will be fixed in the next release.

Hi Paul, Are we any closer with McNeel regarding the materials preview issue? I've been using RH5 for rendering which is a serious hassle. Should I start pushing Rhino about it or is it just on the bottom of their priority list? Also really hard to convert people to rendering with this software with this kind of issue. I also teach tech classes at a University and we have had to which back to Vray for Rhino because of it.

McNeel put through a patch in Rhino6SR14 which fixed one of the material preview problems. The latest version of the plugin (2018.1.2.107) fixes another material preview problem. So please check if this combination fixes your particular issue. I am also working on another fix where if you try to edit Octane Material prior to viewing the OctaneRender panel, the OpenGL preview window does not correctly show the textures, and the material editing tree is blank. I hope to have a fix for this in the next 3-4 days.

Thanks

Paul

Is there a fix for this - I've just returned to Octane as I genuinely love it but it's rather dishearting to find running the latest RH6 and Octane plug-in the material editor still doesn't display Octane materials properly. Is it something I'm doing or has Rhino still not resolved the issue?
I'm running:
Rhino - Version 6 SR24 (6.24.20079.23341, 19/03/2020)
Octane - 2019.1.4.115
