Perspective Correction

Hi Everyone,

Is there a way to make the “Perspective Correction” option work within the Rhino Render Window? The reason I ask, is that when rendering a batch render (when the Rhino render window is being used instead of Octane for Rhino’s window) the “Perspective Correction” is not translating over.

As an alternative I tried out saving the file via ORBX to render in the Octane standalone using it’s batch render function, but my various saved camera views did not come into the standalone Octane along with the file.

If the Rhino window is not capable of supporting the “Perspective Correction” option then are there any Rhino command line entries that will:

1) Bring up the Octane for Rhino viewport
2) Save the image to disk from the Octane for Rhino viewport.

If so, I can re-write my batch script and skip using the Rhino window all together and use Octane for Rhino window instead and problem solved.

Thanks,
Ryan

This is working for me. For example, add a cube, tick Perspective Correction, then Render->Render, and the Rhino render window shows the Octane render with Perspective Correction ON. What version of the plugin are you using pls?

Hi Paul,

My version is probably the issue then. I haven't updated in a while because I've had so many ongoing projects I was nervous to update. My current version is 3.4.4.74.

If you feel that is the issue, do you know if upgrading to the latest stable version you've posted will cause any ill effect on any project files?

Thanks,
Ryan

Hi Ryan - that version is very old, so I'm not sure if your problem would be resolved with the latest release or not. I would recommend updating as frequently as possible, since the further behind you get to the latest release, the more likely you will have issues when you finally do update.

Hi Paul,

I've updated to the latest build, 3.7.0.87 (which is really nice, btw . . . . LOVE the expandable options you've added to the top menu). However, I'm still not getting the Perspective Correction to work in the Rhino Render Window. Works fine in the Octane Viewport. Please see screen shots below. Works great in Octane Viewport, but doesn't carry over to Rhino Viewport.

My Rhino version is Version 5 SR14 64-bit (5.14.522.8390, 5/22/2017).

My Nvidia driver is 385.69

Any thoughts on why it works on your machine but not mine?

I have now been able to reproduce this problem, and it will be fixed in the next release.
