That is strange. When I was using Octane 3 I never noticed a milkiness with specular set to 1. The only case would be that the Index of Refraction was higher than 2.
I will test and investigate this a bit more and return with more detailed feedback.

The Octane 3.08.3 version of the plugin for Rhino6 has the milkiness too. So it's a Rhino6 issue.

Yes, I have meant using Octane 3 with Rhino 5.
So Rhino6 needs to be fixed by McNeel in some way ?!

I'm not sure. A specular value of 1 is very high. If you use lower values, the milkness is minimised. You are not going to get a one-to-one relationship between an Octane material and the Rhino preview window.

Hi Paul,
I have some trouble with material preview and Reload Textures

1 - Material preview: The color and brightness of the thumbnails change in a strange way. If I change the dimension of the thumbnails (for example from medium to small or vice versa) the gamma seems ok.
2- Reload textures: the texture updates without pushing the button (Reload textures) but the texture inside the preview doesn't update. Button seems not to works even in the rendering window.

Please, take a look at this video

bye

Hi Fabrizio. I can reproduce your issues, and it looks like Rhino6 has some issues in this area. I have called on McNeel for assistance. I will let you know when I hear back.

Thanks
