2020.2.3 kills network node

I upgraded to 2020.2.3 LW plugin and I upgraded the standalone and network node software too. Now the LW plugin network panel doesn't see the node at all. Previously it would at least tell me there was an incompatibility but now it doesn't even see it. Any clues? Should I just roll back all the software to 2020.2? Thanks

The 2020.2.3.1 plugin works with the Octane 2020.2.3 standalone/render node. If the LightWave plugin can't see any render node, perhaps you should check your network or firewall/antivirus settings to see if something is blocking it. Do you have the same problem from Standalone?

Thanks,

I'm having very strange problems. I was concerned there may have been a problem with my network. I've done a lot of troubleshooting and there did seem to be a problem which I think I've now fixed. Network panel now shows the node.

But now the Terminal window is showing CUDA errors and the render freezes.

Then I disconnect the node and render and the render still freezes. I haven't been able to get any rendering done for about two days now. I can't determine the problem.

If you have this problem will all your scenes or even a simple one, you should think about some kind of system (hardware) or NVIDIA drivers issue. You could check your GPUs one by one to see if any of them is damaged, or if the problem only happens when all the GPUs are enabled (this can mean a PSU problem, for example). It is hard to say what could the problem ...

I have taken the RTX 2070 Super (the only GPU on this PC) out and it looked fine. Not even very dusty. I have the most recent Nvidia drivers.

I have tested with the new RTX ON and off. All the software is the most recent. These tests are with no networking.

The hangs can happen after just 1000 samples, or 9000; completely random.

It looks like I have no choice but to roll back to 2020.2

I rolled back to 2020.2 and it still hangs. One time it froze after just 300 samples. I realize now the problem actually appeared before I updated. Started to seem more and more like a GPU hardware fault.

BTW, I've been monitoring the 2070 with GPU-Z and all the numbers look fine.

But then I tried F9. I don't know why. And it rendered perfectly all the way to 10,000 samples. I'm going to do that a few more times to be sure.

What does it mean when F9 renders fine but F10 hangs?

I just started rendering a sequence from the middle instead of from the beginning and it's running fine. I assume this means there is an issue with rendering sequences from frame 0.

I noticed when I updated that sometimes Octane was changing the start frame of my sequence from 0 to -1. It was intermittent, but I'm beginning to suspect there is some issue with the LW plugin that causes hangs if the first frame of a sequence is 0. It may also have something to do with motion blur.

I need to do more testing.
