Hi guys
Please can someone form OTOY chime in and tell us which drivers we should use to make Octane stable/renders properly nowdays ?
I had 431.86 and that driver was great for octane 4.05 and octane 2019.1.x, all was working fine but since octane 2020.XB1 and XB2 OTOY suggest moving to 435.80 or higher Studio drivers or otherwise RTX is not used/working.
OK, good i installed 441.66 SD and on short scenes all seem to be good when frames are rendering between 2-3 minutes but as soon as i switch to 20 minutes renders (bigger resolution, more samples) my octane always crashes on 2nd frame of rendering. It renders frame 0 in 18 minutes and then it starts next frame for few minutes and then crash - RENDER FAILURE with that awful message "CUDA error 700 on device 2: an illegal memory access was encountered". It does it every time (on any of my GPUs and then for all 4 GPUs in a row), first frame is rendered fine (first as firs tin line not exactly frame 001, I can render frame 2 and then frame 3 will fail, or i can render frame 99 and then frame 100 will fail etc. etc..). also it's not scene related, happens on any medium sized scene (i have more than 6GB VRAM free and 100GB System ram free when rendering it). Nor is my computer related (tested on my render-slave also same error and also i know another user with same issues so it's either OCTANE BUG or octane incompatibility with Nvidia drivers)
I tried 441.66 and i tried downgrade to 441.28 and 441.12 now and still same problem. I tried octane v4.05, v2019.1.5 and v2020.XB2 and v 4.05 and 2019.1 render one frame and fail on second but 2020.XB2 don't even finish first frame and fail sooner around 14-15 minutes (on 20 minutes render).
So i payed 1050EUR + TAX to get my 3 licenses up to speed at Octane 2020 so i can use RTX (which was suppose dot be in 2019.2 at first) and i need to babysit computer and restart rendering one by one frame all the time and cant' even use 2020 in production ???
Can you please stop adding new features and sort this stability thing once for all and KILL that "illegal memory..." BUG finally ?
I don't know how but maybe you should certified single stable driver which works with OCTANE, Test it together with Nvidia or whatever just make the damn thing stable finally .
Here is my log file (if that helps?) from today's 7th crash in a row.
Thanks.
