Color matching

How do you precisely match colors for materials? Using the color picker on a single color swatch doesn't seem to replicate what I would expect to see in the render. I know on a specular material the environment is affecting the color but it just seems to be wrong, a bit more washed out I guess.

Hello,

do you put a gamma of 2.2 on your color?
With a color correct node?

Can't say I'm aware of what you mean. Are you referring to an image texture?

Hi,

The LW color picker display and returns each color in the liner color space (once you have all the LW color space options disabled). The main problem is that it can't know and process all the tonemapping options enabled on the Octane side to correct the color information, so once you pick a color, the final rendering cannot match this color at all after applying all the Imager node tone mapping options (exposure, white point, camera response, gamma, etc.). Only if you disable all the Octane color mapping features to display the images a linear color space, the picked colors are going to match the rendered colors.

Hope it helps,
